When purchasing software upgrades, it can get very confusing. AZBS is available to assist with most purchases, but in case you pursue this endeavor on your own, here are some helpful tips.

Confirm you have the Current License info on file

When pursuing a license upgrade, the original licensing information is necessary to purchase. Without the licensing information, one of two things will likely happen. The vendor will a.) Not allow the purchase or b.) You will not be able to complete upgrade installation.

Contact the Software Manufacturer Support

  1. Purchasing the appropriate upgrade: Contacting the vendor and providing them all information about your current product will allow them to provide you the appropriate licensing for your upgrade. The current software version on your PC may be too far out of date, and not allow for the most recent upgrade. The vendor will make you aware of this if this is the case. This will require a full license purchase for the newest version for most products.
  2. Compatibility: The specs of your PC may not support the upgraded version of your software. Minimum PC specs relating to the Operating System, Processor, RAM, Disk Free Space, CD/DVD ROM, etc. are required. These specs will ensure the product will not only install, but perform optimally. The vendor will be able to provide the minimum specs. This is typically available on their website.
  3. Software Compliance: Vendor support can also provide you important information about how the license key is to be applied to be compliant with any existing licensing agreement. Depending on the software you are purchasing, versions can allow for multiple installations, however, the license may not be used simultaneously on 2 different PCs. Maintaining compliance is critical. If it is discovered you are using any licensing outside of the agreement, legal ramifications may follow.

Post-Upgrade Installation

Once you have installed the upgrade, the previous license cannot be applied elsewhere.
